August 4, 2008 - Vector Strategy Announces August 27, 2008 Release of Their Armor Procurement Forecast for US Military Ground Vehicles.
Vector Strategy will publish the next release of their Armor Procurement Forecast for US Military Ground Vehicles on August 27, 2008. According to Marcia Price, president of Vector Strategy, "Due to the uncertain funding environment facing the US military armored vehicle market, the increasing costs for raw materials and fuel, the yet to be released results and impacts of the US Army and Marine Corps’ tactical wheeled vehicle strategy, the deteriorating situation in OEF, and the ARFORGEN costs and timelines for a diminished presence of forces and equipment in OIF, we will present two forecast scenarios in the upcoming release of our armor procurement forecast. We believe this will provide our clients with a more complete assessment of the funding environment they face in the coming years."
The August 2008 release will present the following two forecast scenarios for armor procurement:
- One scenario will reflect a steady-state or “competitive” DoD budget environment where the majority of current priorities, future programs, and modernization initiatives receive continued funding at levels consistent with their currently anticipated milestones and goals.
- The second scenario will reflect a more austere or “retrenched” DoD budget environment where funding constraints have narrowed the breadth and depth of vehicle and armor procurement, programs and timelines have moved to the right or “stretched out”, and annual program procurement rates have been reduced.
These two scenarios will be driven by different assumptions for troop deployment, DoD budget constraints, supplemental funding levels, reset and modernization efforts, and future vehicle procurement priorities. The assumptions used for each scenario will be clearly explained within the report. In addition, the horizon of Vector’s forecast will be extended from 2013 to 2015 in this forecast release.
