July 2 , 2007 - Vector Releases US Military Ground Vehicle Armor Forecast Update
Vector Strategy is providing a July forecast update for purchasers of their 2007 US Military Ground Vehicle Armor Forecast. This is a completely revised 186 page document. This July update is a release not originally anticipated and is being provided to report purchasers in addition to an October 2007 update that will be published after Congress passes the FY08 appropriations act for DoD spending later this year.
“Industry events since early April have created the need for us to update our April forecast before using it as the basis for our next report – our analysis of the supply chain and material used in the production of ground vehicle armor,” says Marcia Price, president of Vector Strategy. “We decided to make this update available to our clients.”
In addition, any new report purchasers will receive the most current forecast dated July 2, 2007.
Changes in this forecast (from the original forecast released in April):

MRAP vehicle production has been increased in FY08.

EFP armor protection kits and/or armor upgrades have been incorporated within the MRAP program for FY07 and FY08.

The forecast also discusses the possible MRAP II competition.

Frag Kit #6 and/or EFP armor protection kits for HMMWV’s in FY07 and FY08 have been introduced into the forecast.

Production quantities of JLTV vehicles and armor in FY10 and beyond have been increased.

The forecast now includes the FY08 – FY10 procurement of AAV armor upgrade kits.

The method for forecasting FY09 – FY13 armor procurement has been improved. Rather than just forecasting a procurement dollar sum at the vehicle category level, Vector Strategy now forecasts FY09 to FY13 armor procurement at the vehicle platform level.
